My name is Haldin Raish. Legionnaire.
And the High General just murdered my parents.

My dad was well respected in the Legion. Always had a reputation for doing the right thing, no matter the cost. He was a good man. And whatever he stumbled onto got them both killed. Messily.

Now, that red-eyed thing is coming for me.

It walks like the High General. Talks like him, too. But it's not. Human beings don't shirk off gunfire and smack grown men across the room like that. Not even High Generals. And he's not the only one.

The only reason I'm alive is Carlisle. I still don't understand how he found me that night, or how he does the things he does. Telekinesis. Inhuman speed. He tells me I can do these things too. I'm pretty sure he's insane. Or one of them.

But if the crazy bastard can help me get another shot at the thing that murdered my parents, well then, sign me up.

These things picked the wrong planet to mess with...

“This trilogy is up there with the best.”

Meet The Author

Hi there! Thanks for swinging by my book store.

I'm Luke, and in addition to being a full-time sci-fi pen monkey and dad of two, I often temp as a melted puddle of goo on the living room floor.

When I'm not busy being crushed by the myriad pressures of life, I delight in all manner of reading, gaming, powerlifting, and even occasionally spending time with my family. (I know, right?)

Anyway, I live in Rhode Island with my wife, Marina, and those two aforementioned feral wildmen we call children. But that's probably enough about us. If you're looking to be entertained, you should probably just go grab one of my books and tuck in. You won't regret it. (Probably.)

Great! But Seriously… How Does It Work?

Buy Direct. Fight the Power.

By cutting out the big retailer middlemen and buying directly from Luke on this store, you pay less and he makes more! It's like magic, except really it's just less hands grabbing at your money.

Ultimately, I wanted to like this book more than I did. The concept caught my eye immediately: Star Wars meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers meets Starship Troopers? I'm up for that! The premise sold me on giving it a try, and the first chapters were exeptional, but - to give a minor SPOILER - after the first fights, we're 25 percent into the thing before we get any more action. There's a lot of talk, a lot of backstory, a lot of deciding whether or not to help the psychic superpowered resistance who are the only ones who can detect and fight the body-snatching entities that have seized control of the top levels of power in this Starship Troopersesq authoritarian world...and only then do we get some action.Things pick up then, but I'd have preferred things to kick off earlier, perhaps with a specific and pressing goal to be attained immediately, and the main character along for the fight as his unearthly powers develop. It's established at the beginning that the kid is a trained and proficient soldier, not a farmboy, which puts him one up on Luke Skywalker. But preferences about pacing aside, the author's undeniably good, and I intend to try something else by him.

I read all the Harvester books first. Love Luke Mitchell. Truly was interested in the characters from Enochia. This book is a great introduction to them and their stories.Definitely recommend.

The story flows so smoothly you will read into the night much longer than anticipated, or wise, for early risers. It is just so difficult t to stop! The characters are well developed and engaging. Mr. Mitchell is so skillful you feel a part of the story, not an observer reading a tale. Following the development of Hal in his training made him fully dimensional. Yep, frustration, understand that fella. Not just the main characters either, they all were believable, even the enemies. Well done!
