- Reading Order: Book Two of the Harvesters Series - Length: 9 Hours, 25 Minutes - Format: Audiobook - Release Date:
I found it a good story with strong characterisation and a great finish. Buying from the author's book store was easy and simple. A good alternative to going through the major ebook suppliers and, I suppose, more beneeficial to the author. Which is a good thing - so Luke can keep on writing more great stories for us.
I love the narrative. It isn’t just fantasy chaff. Well written, funny at times and deadly at other times. Only at chapter six but ripping through it. Just couldn’t wait to tell someone about it
Just finished the 4 part Harvesters trilogy. Absolutely loved it. Pretty much every part of the action, humour, pacing, detail... everything was fantastic. Would recommend to anyone wanting a sci-fi fantasy fix. Loved it!
Trauma disguised as a road trip movie. I loved the sass. I had no idea about this hidden teenager in me, giggling at all the nicknames and comebacks. Immature perhaps (definitely) but perfectly used to relieve tension or aggravate. Happy to recommend this apocalyptic romp to save the world
I won’t be ordering any more books using this useless app. I bought the four harvester books and as advised downloaded the app to access them. I only managed to read one book and then I could not access the other three. I tried several times with no luck. So although I enjoyed the first book very much I absolutely will not waste any more money attempting to download anything else.
Bought this on a whim from Kobo deal of the day (sorry!).
Couldn't put it down! Binge read the entire set over about a week...
Fantastic mix-up of various genres with great characters, humour, action and story.
Off to look at Lukes' other works now :)
It has been a long time since I have found a sci-fi series that I truly enjoyed but this one hit the spot. Humor, a hint of romance, aliens, battle scenes and everything fun and yet thought filled! Great book!!!
I really liked the Harvester series. It has action, snark and a little romance. My wife always said I liked snark a little too much. And she would know, we've been together over 45 years and she heard it every time my mouth opened. I'll be reading more of Luke Mitchell's books in the future.
I just finished reading these four books, plus the Soldier of Charity: The complete Harvesters Series, by Luke Mitchell. It is science fiction developed with characters faithful to their thoughts, works and attitudes. It takes place on our planet, in the midst of an invasion of aliens. Sadness, pain, anguish, love, friendship, and touches of humor are combined in a well-told story. The first time I read something long on Kindle, but it was a good experience, I found that I read 90 percent on the Kindle Android App that I downloaded on Galaxy 6 Lite Tablet and Samsung Galaxy A30s cell phone. The remaining 10% on the Kindle Paperwhite I bought. Very good, but perhaps I quite liked the customization that can be done in the Android App, and especially the speed of response of these two devices, what has to do with the online dictionary and translation is immediate. Good experience with Kindle and with the author. Recommendable.
Pulse-pounding action, from a cocky hero. Great teamwork, and problem-solving, neck-biting alien creatures, spaceships and cool body armor. Pretty gory, but it keeps your interest.
Holy s#!+!!! What an amazing story, original intense, hilarious and enthralling. Luke you need to keep this series going for at least another four to a million books. Keep up the bad ass work.
What a way to end a series! Wow! Talk about action and mayhem! This whole series is awesome and I couldn't get enough! The characters are strong and amazingly hilarious! It also reminded me of old 80's movies when the good guys always had a great one liner to hurl at the bad guy during their fights. The series is simply amazing!
Soldier of Charity was my first read from author Luke R. Mitchell and was in every sense of the word, a thriller. Well-written with well-developed characters and a storyline that continually develops throughout the length of the book. Red Gambit (The Harvesters #1) is even better! Set 9 years after Soldier of Charity this was a very good read that I couldn't put down (futuristic settings, mutant-like powers) I look forward Mitchell’s next book.
This book, along with the previous one in the series is cramming weeks worth of action into a few days. It's also the warm up to the upcoming super bad guys that they need to get prepared for.I am enjoying the interaction between the characters and the growing love story between Jarek and Rachel is well done and not out of place even with all of the crazy action going on.
It's Iron Man meets Falling Skies -- sort of.Red Gambit starts off a bit slow in that the character of Jared is just irreverent enough to seem snarky at first; it is not a good sign when I am shaking my head at one of the "hero's" antics. But then he sort of grew on me. Mr. Mitchell creates an interesting world populated by people who, after I got past some of their antics, are real enough to also hold my interest.I received Red Gambit as a Kindle Book of the Month, and liked it enough that I not only signed up for Mr. Mitchell's mailing list (which nets you a free prequel), but also bought book #2.I look forward to the next book in this series!
The likelihood that the humans and the Raknoths will solve their war and be able to decide how the new group will enter the conflict has become an unknown. Hurry up and arrive August.
Almost nonstop action and impossible scenarios. The fun is in seeing how our heroes will get out of the messes they find themselves in.Plus there’s a dash of romance thrown in, too. The sexual tension between the two main protagonists adds spice.I especially appreciate the inner conflict that characters deal with. Like many books in this genre, the story boils down to good vs evil, but the initial story from book #1 is revealed to be more complex—as with human conflicts throughout the ages, the bad guys are perhaps not as bad as originally thought, but simply trying to get their needs met.But how does one forgive atrocities committed against oneself and one’s loved ones, to join forces with the committer of such atrocities, or one who represents them? Is that even possible? If survival depends on allying with enemies, what happens? These are the kinds of questions this series asks.Which then begs the question, are the ultimate bad guys themselves simply trying to get their needs met, or are they truly evil?Meanwhile, I keep thinking that all of the survivors are going to need a helluva lot of PTSD therapy! For us readers, though, this series is a lot of fun. Can’t wait for #4!
Sniff! What a mind blowing end to a grasping and fascinating series! I enjoyed each and every moment and scene of savage battles, emotive encounters, cheeky sarcasm, humourous situations, complex and admirable characters, counting the ragnoths. The original names of the aliens, the vivid description of them is so realistic I could actually visualize them. The rakul, quasi immortal species are mesmerizingly terrifying. Luke R. Mitchell has given his best and more in this series, a unique writing, creative beyond imagination. And the book covers, wow! Every single book has a fantastic like 3D art design that never tires me to look at them. The ending was both unexpected and sad, but happy and thankful. I got emotional too, lol! I didn’t want to see it end! Beautifully written and a wonderful ride I truly hope continues! Congratulations Luke! You’ve made me very happy reading this great series, thank you!
My rating is 3.5. I’m disappointed in the direction. There was so much excitement in book one. With the sporadic action and Jared and Rachel constantly in their heads, I lost interest in the story. I found myself rushing to the conclusion. The battles were so chaotic. Made it difficult to focus. I hope Reaping Day is much better. I really loved book one and wanted that euphoria to continue through the series. Hope the next book is better.

Meet The Author
Hi there! Thanks for swinging by my book store.
I'm Luke, and in addition to being a full-time sci-fi pen monkey and dad of three, I often temp as a melted puddle of goo on the living room floor.
When I'm not busy being crushed by the myriad pressures of life, I delight in all manner of reading, gaming, powerlifting, and even occasionally spending time with my family. (I know, right?)
Anyway, I live in Rhode Island with my wife, Marina, and those three aforementioned feral wild things we call children. But that's probably enough about us. If you're looking to be entertained, you should probably just go grab one of my books and tuck in. You won't regret it. (Probably.)
You've got questions, I've got pudding. (But also answers, too.)
How long does eBook delivery take?

Why buy direct from the author?
Very important question, and there are several, several answers. Most pressingly, by cutting out the middlemen and buying directly from Luke on this store, you get to pay less and he gets to keep more.
There are lots of other cool perks, like the fact that buying here opens a direct line of communication between reader and author — not to mention the part where you're actually buying your eBook files rather than merely licensing access to them (as you typically would be on most major retailers). But in the end, it mostly comes down to that simple idea: Buying direct saves you money while also maximizing your support to the author.
It's a win-win! (Just not for the big retailers.)
